Understand VA Rules on Soliciting Veterans

This is a reminder for contracted CCN providers that vendors are prohibited from soliciting the VA and/or Veterans for service, as indicated in the CCN Provider Handbook.

Provider Responsibilities to Veterans
As a CCN provider, VA has designated certain responsibilities when caring for Veterans.

NEVER solicit Veterans or VA Medical Center for services.

Providers who witness vendor solicitation of Veterans or VA Medical Centers should notify TriWest immediately. TriWest is required to report these cases to VA within 30 days of the event.

Medically Necessary? Use VA Clinical Determinations and Indications

VA develops Clinical Determinations and Indications as a reference for community providers to use when determining whether a service is medically necessary/covered for a Veteran. The goal is to drive the most appropriate, evidence-based determinations for care.
